Bedouin tents are typically made from woven goat or camel hair fabric, which is both durable and breathable. They often have a distinctive conical shape and are supported by a central pole. The Bedouin people believed that every traveller should be given shelter and protection from the relentless elements for at least three days.
The Harsh Nature of the Desert
A desert is a harsh place with vegetation covering less than ten percent of the land. Desert dwellers are lucky to receive more than twenty-five centimetres of rain per year. In order to survive, the Bedouins led a nomadic lifestyle. Their survival depended on being able to move quickly and efficiently given the unpredictable nature of their environment.
