Founders Anne and David Doughty have extensive knowledge of the wedding and event industries with 25-years of experience under their belts. Since Urban Gourmet’s inception in 1999 they have maintained uncompromising standards in all facets of their business. From the kitchen to the office members of Urban Gourmet team have one thing in common – passion for delicious food and flawless events – this was evident when they were recently nominated as finalists in the ‘outstanding caterers’ category at The 2014 Lewisham Awards.
Urban Gourmet are now the official caterers for Auckland Conventions venues – the Auckland Town Hall, The Civic and The Aotea Centre. These incredibly diverse and distinctly unique spaces host some of the citys most exciting events, from award ceremonies and seminars through to gala dinners and balls. They also cater exclusively to The Grange Golf Club, Highwick House Ballroom and the recently refurbished Potters Park Events Centre.
Serving canapes such as Maryland Crab Cakes with sauce gribiche, or saltimbocca chicken, pancetta and sage croquettes with spiced tomato relish will have your guests wowed and for mains we’re sure they will be equally impressed with the Assiette of duck, pumpkin puree, hazelnuts, malmsey and curly endive. Strawberry soup, yoghurt sorbet and champagne caviar is the perfect cleansing finish to this fantastic dining experience. Anne says “our catering ethos if you like is that every event is different. We don’t have ‘off the rack’ catering packages, we try to work with every customer to come up with a personal proposal and a bespoke menu that best fits their needs – and best suits the venue”.
