Tent decor and accessories DIY – our recommendations – ‘Geoffs Emporium’

Opening in the early 1980’s Geoff’s Emporium (aka ‘Geoff and Ike’s’) have provided party go’ers, artists, creatives and bargain hunters with a treasure chest of odds and ends, surplus items and wacky and wonderful stock to rummage through for decades. For DIY accessories and soft-furnishing additions, don’t go past Geoff’s Emporium. Never a boring day, Geoffs is likely one of a few places you can visit where you can pick up a rubber chicken, offcuts of fabric, that plug for the kitchen sink you’ve been meaning to replace, and a new set of paint brushes for your craft cupboard at home.

With a vast array of fabrics, threads, buttons, ribbon, feathers, paints and embellishments you can create your very own beautiful table-runners, centre pieces, chair ties, even your own wedding or party invites. This store is one of those ‘it is what it is’ stores – nothing flash or superficial, but brimming with good people, service and product. You can spend hours in here and you can guarantee you wont leave empty-handed but you will still have cash in your pocket as they are so cheap. While their mothership store is situated in Dominion Road they also have stores in Browns Bay, Orewa and Devonport. There’s something magical about the Dominion Road store though, so do start there.www.ikes.co.nz
